Spencer Tinkham's passion for carving was sparked at age eight, when his grandfather gave him a small pocket knife. In the early years, he relentlessly carved whatever he could get his hands on. Fallen tree branches quickly became personalized walking sticks, scrap pieces of wood were whittled into miniature figurines, and bars of soap were transformed into countless creative sculptures.
He soon began to make duck decoys and, despite being a self-taught carver, Spencer won two youth World Championship competitions in 2008 and 2010. While in high school, the young artist started to explore many other art forms. He developed a strong interest in American folk art, and many prestigious collectors and museums have lined up to obtain a Tinkham original. In addition to contemporary art, Spencer added antique restoration to his array of artistic talents and has restored many pieces that are vital to the preservation of American history.
Spencer is currently majoring in Economics at Baylor University in Waco, TX. His waterfowl decoys and American folk art can be found in collections and fine art galleries worldwide.
