This year was again another great success despite two hurricanes that came through the area in 2024. We had hundreds of competitors vying for the best of show and ribbons in their respective categories. This year we added a furniture division that attracted some great pieces as well as added categories of chainsaw carving and CNC/Laser carving to the Carving division. The judging is always tough but our judges, once again, did an outstanding job in identifying the great talent of those who entered the SWFL Wood Art Expo. Attendance was good but down due to the above-mentioned hurricanes and unusual cold weather for this time of year. But we also saw an increase in vendors and artists displaying and selling their art.
The cornerstone of the exhibition, besides the competitors, has been our loyal clubs, vendors and sponsors. The show is organized by a group of local carving clubs and the Peace River Woodturners. We received many donations from local and national businesses and organizations. Donations like these help us raise money for the show and go right back into the next show so we can continue our mission. If it were not for these donors and vendors, as well as the competitors and patrons who attend the show, we could not continue to present one of Florida's best shows in the wood arts. We are forever grateful and hope that you will patron both sponsors and vendors.
As always, behind the scenes are the many volunteers who help make this show happen, without them it would be a daunting task. On behalf of the Board of Directors of the SWFL Wood Art Expo, I would like to thank all those who participated in the show in whatever capacity and look forward to seeing you next year. We are always moving forward to making the show bigger, better, and more efficient.
